Hello! Thank you for showing an interest in my work.
If you have come this far you want to know a bit more about me. Well I love photography as you may have guessed and have been lucky enough to build a career around it. Here is some information you might find interesting.
How did I get into photography?
I started getting into photography with the emergence of camera phones! At the time I thought it was mad you could take photos with your phone and I started to really enjoy capturing day to day life with my dog in the countryside and at the coast. It was disappointing to capture a moment I was happy with to then realise I couldn’t print it out due to it’s resolution and quality. It wasn’t long before I wanted to take photography more seriously and get a camera as well as taking a photography course at AS level.
Where did I study photography?
I graduated with my photography degree in 2010 from the ATRiuM School of Creative & Cultural Industries – University of Glamorgan in Cardiff.
What have I done since graduating?
I have since developed an eclectic portfolio working in many areas within the medium. I have lived in Cornwall most of my life but am currently having a little spell in London working on a number of projects and broadening my portfolio with many new challenges along the way. I am constantly heading too and from Cornwall where lots of my business still operates and the two places offer an incredible diversity.
Where has photography taken me?
I am a passionate person who has when possible used photography as a tool for change. I care a great deal about our planet and have curated climate change exhibitions, volunteered for local wildlife charities as well as working for the Green Party of England & Wales in the run up to the general election in 2015. Photographing the natural world is always something that I try to find time for, whether it’s wildlife or a bit of storm chasing, Mother Nature always manages to take my breath away!
I have won some photography competitions and must find time to enter more. I have proudly been featured across some media publications including National Geographic, The Guardian and Surf Girl Magazine.
My main areas of work lie within wedding photography in both Cornwall and London as well as live music, commercial, food, surf and bodyboard photography as well. I have been lucky enough to travel abroad on assignments from time to time visiting some amazing places including New Zealand, Morocco and California.
My Photography Style?
Growing up in Cornwall has made me appreciate the aesthetic qualities in our natural landscapes and from there I learned to see aspects of day to day life that would also make striking photographs. I now photograph lots of weddings and live music events capturing special moments that make us humans so great. I have been described as an empathetic photographer in the sense that I stand back and capture without intruding. I would describe myself as a fine art photographer who specialises in recording events and interactions in an un-posed and organic manner.
